Maybe it’s been a few years since you had your pool installed. Perhaps you’ve been less than happy with the look or function recently. How do you know if it’s time to remodel or not?

Regardless of how well your pool was installed, there will come a time when it needs to be remodeled or upgraded. Here are four signs it may be time to remodel your pool.

1. Your tiles are falling off

If your tiles are literally falling off, that means your pool is in bad shape. It is probably time for a retiling, at the least. While it’s possible it’s just an aesthetic problem, there is the potential for safety issues when the tiles are falling off.

2. Your plaster is flaking or cracking

If you have ugly cracks or your plaster is peeling and cracking, it may be time for some repair work. Just like the tiles, it’s possible it’s simply an aesthetic problem. But flaking and cracking can lead to other larger problems, so you should have it looked at as soon as possible.

3. Your equipment is 30 years old

Even the most well maintained pool will need work at some point. And if your pool is several decades old, you should be aware that newer pools have a lot more safety features. A remodel is a good way to keep those safety concerns at bay.

4. You’re looking to jazz things up

Maybe your pool is in great shape, but you’re ready to take things to the next level. Want to add new water features? Maybe you’d like some equipment you weren’t ready to invest in when you first got your pool? Perhaps you’d just like a pool makeover. Whatever the case, if you’re ready to improve your setup, then it’s time for a remodel.

Remodels can vary greatly. The investment can be anywhere from $600 all the way up to $75,000 or more. It all depends on what you’re looking for as well as what needs to be added or replaced.
